On Friday, Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris expressed her dissatisfaction over what she described as persistent romantic messages she has been receiving from young men.
Speaking in a statement, Passaris said the messages have been coming in continuously, especially at night, and she questioned the growing attention directed at her.
She noted that since last week, several young men—whom she described as “teenagers”—have been sending her affectionate messages expressing admiration and proposing romantic interest, something she says she will not entertain.
“They are energetically sending me sensitive messages, telling me how they miss me and how proud they would be to marry me,” she said.
Passaris further urged authorities to intervene and advise the young men to stop the behaviour, saying the constant messages could become a distraction from her duties as Nairobi Women Representative.
She warned that if the trend continues, it could affect her focus on serving Nairobi residents, particularly women who rely on her leadership.
The remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, with users debating issues of privacy, public attention, and respect for leaders.
