In an emotional interview with The Nation, a 26-year-old woman broke down as she revealed that her stepmother, together with other relatives, allegedly gave her KSh 200 to falsely accuse her biological father of defilement and threats to her life. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
The woman admitted that at the time, she was desperate for money and willing to do whatever it took to get it.
She further claimed that the decision came during a family conflict, where her stepmother, grandmother, and her father’s brother played a role in influencing her to make the accusations.
“I was given 200 shillings to say my father had defiled me. I was struggling financially and didn’t think twice. I went to court and repeated what I had been told, and my father has now spent over 17 years in prison,” she said.
She explained that she was still young at the time and did not fully understand how serious her actions were. Now, she says she regrets what happened and is hoping for her father’s release after many years behind bars.
She also noted that her stepmother and grandmother are now remorseful, adding that her mother still cares about her father and that the family is praying for his freedom so he can come back home and rebuild his life.
