On Tuesday, Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris raised concern over what she called repeated romantic messages she has been receiving from young men. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
In a statement, Passaris said the messages have been arriving frequently, mostly at night, leaving her questioning the increasing attention directed toward her.
She explained that over the past week, a number of young men—whom she referred to as teenagers—have been sending her affectionate texts, expressing admiration and even proposing romantic relationships, something she has clearly rejected.
“They keep sending emotional messages, saying they miss me and would be proud to marry me,” she said.
Passaris also called on relevant authorities to step in and guide the young men to stop the behavior, noting that the constant messages risk becoming a distraction from her official responsibilities.
She added that if the situation continues, it could interfere with her ability to focus on serving Nairobi residents, especially women who depend on her leadership.
Her comments have since triggered mixed reactions online, with many people discussing issues around privacy, public attention, and respect for leaders.
