Grief has covered a family after a married woman lost her life in a tragic road crash involving a government vehicle.
Salome died after a government vehicle hit the boda boda she was riding on.
The accident happened in the Kisongo area near the airport as she was heading home after finishing her daily errands. She died on the spot, leaving behind two young children.
Her uncle, Gamaliel, shared the painful details of how the family received the shocking news.
Gamaliel said Salome was his niece and that he received a call from her landlord at around 8.30 pm.
Although he did not know the landlord, he began to sense that something was wrong from the way they spoke.
The landlord asked whether he had a relative named Salome, and he confirmed.
He was then informed that she was heading home from Kisongo, Tanzania, after completing her errands.
Around the airport area, she came across a line of Prisons Department vehicles.
He was told that one of the vehicles developed brake failure and hit them from behind, which is how the incident was explained to him.
Police officers moved her body to the mortuary after the crash.
However, the family says they have not received any support from the authorities.
He further said that no officer had visited their home to offer condolences or stand with the family during the difficult period.
He added that he felt there was information the police might be aware of that the family did not know.
According to what they were told, the boda boda rider was trying to overtake when the accident occurred.
He noted that the family now faces the task of planning her burial and addressing several matters, including seeking justice.
