RIP: Sad as Popular Murang’a Preacher and His Brother Die on the Spot After Being Hit by a Speeding Lorry; Driver Flees Scene

Cases of road accidents have been on the rise in many parts of the Republic of Kenya.

In the most recent incident, sorrow has gripped Kihuro village in Kiharu constituency, Murang’a County, after two brothers, one of them being a preacher in Murang’a, lost their lives on the spot following a road accident that occurred last night on the Gakonya Muaini road.

According to reports from residents, the two were riding on a motorbike at around midnight as they headed to their home in Murang’a when a speeding lorry hit them.

The impact of the crash was severe, and the brothers died instantly before any help could reach them.

Witnesses said the driver of the lorry fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the victims lying on the road.

Residents who responded to the incident expressed anger and concern over the increasing number of speeding lorries that transport sand at night along the road.

One resident said there have been frequent complaints about lorries moving at high speed while transporting sand during the night.

The residents claim that such operations are against county policies that regulate sand transport during night hours, but the rules are rarely enforced.

Local leaders and residents are now calling on authorities to take strict action against drivers who violate traffic rules and to enforce regulations that control sand harvesting and transport.

Police officers visited the scene and began investigations as they searched for the driver who escaped after the crash.

The bodies of the two brothers were later moved to Murang’a Hospital Mortuary, where they are awaiting postmortem examination.

Road safety experts continue to urge motorists to observe traffic rules and drive carefully to help reduce the rising number of accidents in the country.
