Coast Turns Orange as ODM Storms Kilifi While Oburu Oginga Attends Tragic Family Bereavement in Machakos

The Coast region witnessed a vibrant political wave this week as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) intensified its grassroots mobilization drive across Kilifi County.

At the center of the tour was Gladys Wanga, who led the party’s ongoing “Linda Ground” campaign aimed at strengthening ODM’s presence in its traditional strongholds.

The high-energy motorcade passed through Garashi in Magarini, Mwanamwinga in Kaloleni, before culminating in a massive rally in Mtwapa, Kilifi South.

Residents turned up in impressive numbers, bringing business in several towns to a temporary pause as party leaders addressed issues affecting the coastal population.

Speeches centered on economic empowerment, youth opportunities, and renewed commitments to tackling local challenges.

Governor Wanga underscored that Kilifi remains a pillar of ODM’s political base, assuring supporters that the party is determined to maintain a close connection with the grassroots ahead of future political contests.

Oburu’s Absence Explained

Notably missing from the Coast events was veteran politician Oburu Oginga, a familiar face at major ODM gatherings. However, his absence was not political.

Dr. Oburu traveled to Machakos County to console the family of Johnson Muthama and Agnes Kavindu following the painful loss of their son, Moses Muthama.

In a gesture that went beyond party lines, the seasoned leader chose to stand with the grieving family during their difficult moment, demonstrating solidarity and humanity over political engagement.

Balancing Politics and Compassion

While one section of the party machinery energized supporters along the Coast, another focused on compassion and national unity in Machakos.

The parallel events showcased ODM’s ability to remain active on the political front while also honoring moments that call for empathy.

The “Linda Ground” campaign appears to be more than routine rallies. It signals a strategic effort by ODM to cement loyalty in its traditional bases through direct engagement, structured mobilization, and visible leadership presence on the ground.

As the Coast rallies continue to draw crowds, the party’s renewed grassroots push suggests a clear message: ODM is determined to defend its turf while projecting both political strength and social responsibility.
