'Ataozea Ndani’: DCI Allegedly Reveals When Maverick Aoko May Be Arrested for Defaming Ruto and Other Leaders on Social Media

Tension is rising in Kenya’s political and media circles after reports emerged that popular media personality Maverick Aoko may face arrest for allegedly defaming President William Ruto and other public leaders on social media.

According to sources, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been approached by several complaints demanding action against Aoko.

One Nairobi MCA, who is among those filing complaints, said that President Ruto must be respected at all times.

He added that the President is a family man and should not be dishonored by harmful or insulting remarks online. “Even public figures deserve respect. Insulting them or their families publicly is not acceptable,” he stated.

The MCA further revealed that Maverick Aoko once made insensitive comments targeting his wife, which crossed the line of decency. He said this is one of the reasons he and others are urging the DCI to act promptly.

Social media users have reacted strongly to the news. Some support the call for accountability, saying that freedom of expression should not include defaming others, while others argue that the law must balance free speech with defamation rules.

Although the DCI has not officially confirmed an arrest date, the MCA hinted that action could happen as early as next Monday.

Kenyans are now watching closely to see whether the law will finally take its course, making this one of the most talked-about stories in the country this week.
