Gachagua Challenges Ruto’s Singapore Narrative in Heated Afternoon Remarks

President William Ruto recently reaffirmed his commitment to realizing Kenya’s “Singapore dream,” a vision aimed at transforming the country’s economy and infrastructure.

Speaking on social media, Ruto said he and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki are determined to make the plan successful and that Kenyans will benefit from it.

However, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua strongly criticized the president, calling the narrative misleading.

“This vision sounds good on paper, but it does not address the immediate problems Kenyans are facing. Leadership is about action, not empty promises,” Gachagua said.

He highlighted that while the Singapore dream may appeal to some, it risks distracting from urgent issues such as unemployment, inflation, and access to healthcare.

“Kenyans are struggling every day. We cannot lose sight of real problems while chasing foreign comparisons,” he added.

Political analysts note that the debate over Ruto’s Singapore vision has intensified, dividing opinions within both government circles and opposition parties. While supporters argue it is a bold step toward modernization, critics say it is disconnected from Kenya’s current realities.

The discussion raises important questions about leadership priorities, governance, and the ability of Kenyan politicians to balance visionary plans with immediate citizen needs.
