Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan's only Christian federal cabinet minister, was killed on March 2, 2011, after years of speaking out for religious minorities in the country.
Gunmen attacked his vehicle in Islamabad, firing multiple shots after he publicly criticized Pakistan's blasphemy laws and supported Asia Bibi, a Christian woman who had been sentenced to death under those laws.
