Drama in Eldoret CBD as Boda Boda Rider Faints After Being Verbally Abused by Kanjo Officers Over a 300-Shilling Bribe

In Eldoret Central Business District on Thursday late evening, a boda boda rider was rushed to the hospital after a shocking encounter with three Kanjo Officers. 

The officers allegedly demanded a bribe of Ksh 300 from the rider, sparking a confrontation that left him seriously injured.

Eyewitnesses said the rider was stopped by the officers who accused him of parking his motorcycle in the wrong place. They told him that if he did not pay the Ksh 300 bribe, he would be taken to the police station, fined heavily, or even taken to court.

The situation quickly escalated when the rider refused to pay. One of the officers reportedly slapped him, asking if he knew who he was dealing with, while the other two began hitting him with heavy blows. The rider cried for help but could not defend himself.

The attack only stopped when other boda boda riders and bystanders gathered at the scene, condemning the officers’ actions. 

By that time, the rider had fainted from pain and shock. He was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, especially to his head.

This incident has sparked outrage among residents and fellow boda boda riders, who condemned the abuse of power by the Kanjo Officers. 

Many are calling on authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that such acts of brutality do not happen again.

The injured rider is currently receiving medical care, while calls for justice continue to grow louder. 

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by boda boda riders, who often encounter harassment while trying to earn a living.
