Police in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, are investigating a string of disturbing break-ins targeting three churches, where thieves not only stole valuable property but also consumed communion wine before escaping. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
The incidents were reported at Fountain of Life Church International, St Joseph Riakiania Catholic Church, and ACK Riakiania Church, all located within Riakiania area. The break-ins are believed to have happened during the night when the churches were unattended.
At Fountain of Life Church, the intruders forced their way into the building and vandalized offices before stealing sound system equipment, including microphones and a mixer, all valued at hundreds of thousands of shillings.
Church leaders also revealed a shocking detail that the thieves drank communion wine inside the church before leaving.
In a separate incident at St Joseph Riakiania Catholic Church, the burglars stole several items used during services, including microphones, a sound mixer, and a keyboard. The total loss from the church is estimated to be over KSh 500,000.
ACK Riakiania Church was also targeted, with thieves making away with electronic equipment worth more than KSh 250,000. The repeated attacks have left church members concerned about rising insecurity in the area and the vulnerability of places of worship.
Church officials have reported the incidents to Baricho Police Station, where investigations have already been launched. Authorities say efforts are underway to identify and arrest those behind the coordinated thefts.
Local residents and religious leaders are now calling for increased security patrols, saying churches should be protected from such disrespectful and damaging acts.
