On Monday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, through Kisii Governor Simba Arati, made a public appeal calling on the Linda Mwananchi Team to consider returning back to the party. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
The group is linked to senior leaders such as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, Babu Owino, and Godfrey Osotsi.
Governor Arati said that ODM is now moving towards a closer working relationship with the government.
He explained that the President has encouraged unity within the party so that ODM can remain strong and organized as the country moves closer to the next general election.
In his remarks, Arati also claimed that the President has already played a role in bringing unity within the UDA Party, and now similar efforts are being made in ODM.
He suggested that the aim is to bring different political groups together so that by the 2027 elections, there will be stronger and more united political coalitions.
According to the governor, leaders like Edwin Sifuna and others should think about rejoining ODM in order to strengthen the party ahead of the coming elections. He emphasized that unity is important for political stability and long-term planning.
He further warned that the 2027 elections will be very competitive. Arati claimed that leaders in the current leadership are concerned about the possibility of DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua gaining more influence.
He said that if that happens, the country could face challenges, which is why there is a push for political unity.
In conclusion, Arati insisted that the President’s call for unity across political parties is meant to build a stronger national foundation that will benefit all Kenyans in the future.
