A School Deputy Principal from Makueni County has left many in shock after she surrendered herself to Machakos Police Station and confessed to allegedly killing his 11-year-old son at a lodging within Makueni.
Police confirmed that the woman turned herself in following the tragic incident that occurred on March 22, which has deeply unsettled local residents.
Authorities also revealed that she was with her three children at the time of the incident but spared the lives of his two other children, aged six and three.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing as police work to establish what may have triggered the incident.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect had checked into a lodging on the night of March 21 accompanied by all three children.
The following day, he allegedly left the room to buy toothpaste from a nearby shop but failed to return promptly. The lodging manager reportedly became suspicious, entered the room, and found it unlocked.
Inside, two children were found sitting on the bed, while the third child was unresponsive.
Police confirmed that the boy, a Grade 4 pupil at Miau Primary School, had already died by the time he was discovered.
His body showed visible marks on the neck, which investigators believe may have been caused by strangulation.
The two surviving children were found safe and were later placed under care as authorities contacted relatives.
The deceased’s body was moved to the mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
The suspect was later taken into custody and is expected to be transferred to Makueni for further processing.
Police have also indicated that he will undergo a psychiatric evaluation as part of the investigation.
A specialized team has been deployed to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine any underlying factors that may have contributed to the tragedy.
