Shock and grief have gripped residents of Nakuru after a senior Kenya Power officer was brutally killed while heading to work early in the morning.
The victim, Ambrose Omondi, a Kenya Power manager, was stabbed to death by suspected robbers just a short distance from his home in the Kenlands area of Nakuru town.
According to reports, Omondi had left his house as usual and was walking to work when he was ambushed by knife-wielding criminals a few steps from his gate.
His sudden death has thrown his family and neighbours into deep mourning.
One resident said they were shocked by the incident and called for justice.
The killing has heightened fear among residents who say cases of violent crime have been rising in several estates within Nakuru County.
Locals claim that more lives have recently been lost in similar attacks in areas such as Barnabas within the Mwariki area.
A few kilometres from Omondi’s home, two suspected criminals were lynched by an angry mob on Saturday night after they were allegedly caught attempting to commit a crime.
Residents said they want a stronger security presence in the area, noting that there have been several attacks in recent days, including the killing of a man in the Barnabas area within Mwariki.
Authorities said the incident was unfortunate and confirmed that investigations are ongoing after receiving critical information about a possible suspect.
