Photos have emerged of a Kenyan nurse who passed away shortly after securing a well-paying job in Dubai earlier this year.
A family in Kiambu County is in mourning after losing their daughter, Tabitha Gathoni Njuguna, who had travelled to Dubai just three weeks ago in search of better opportunities.
Tabitha, from the Kinare area, left behind a two-year-old child and her mother, who is now taking care of the young child.
According to Kameme FM radio host and former Kiambu woman representative aspirant Eve Nungari, Tabitha fell ill shortly after arriving in Dubai and later passed away. It is also reported that she was emotionally distressed following a breakup with her boyfriend.
Her body was taken to a hospital mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The family is now appealing for help to repatriate her body back to Kenya for burial.
Tabitha was the first-born in her family and the main breadwinner, making her sudden death especially painful for her relatives.
Kenyans online have joined Eve Nungari in sending condolence messages to the grieving family. Many have also called on the government to assist the family during this difficult time.
Her family and friends continue to appeal for support to bring her body home, where she will be laid to rest.
The nation mourns a young life cut short and remembers her dedication to both family and work.
