Oburu Odinga Condemns Attack on Osotsi, Warns Against Rising Political Violence

Oburu Odinga has strongly condemned the recent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, describing the incident as a serious threat to democracy and political tolerance in the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 9, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader termed the assault both unfortunate and unacceptable in a modern democratic society.

He extended his well wishes to Senator Osotsi, expressing hope for his quick and full recovery.
Oburu emphasized that political differences should never escalate into violence, noting that democracy thrives on dialogue, respect, and the free exchange of ideas.

He warned that such acts not only endanger individual leaders but also undermine national unity and stability.

“Violence has no place in our political discourse. Differences in opinion or ideology must never be resolved through intimidation or physical confrontation,” he stated.

Reaffirming ODM’s stance, Oburu said the party remains committed to upholding the rule of law and promoting peaceful engagement among leaders and citizens.

He also called on security agencies to conduct a swift, thorough, and impartial investigation into the attack, urging that those responsible be held accountable.

Oburu concluded by appealing to both leaders and the public to uphold peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, cautioning that such incidents should not be allowed to derail the country’s democratic progress.
