Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa Condemns Osotsi Attack, Demands Urgent Action

Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa has strongly condemned the recent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu, calling for swift and decisive action against those responsible.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Thang’wa described the incident as deeply disturbing and unacceptable, especially considering Osotsi’s role as a public servant and the wider implications for the safety of leaders and citizens.

He warned that violence against public officials threatens not only individual lives but also the democratic principles that guide the country.

Citing preliminary reports and circulating CCTV footage, Thang’wa suggested that the attack may have been premeditated, raising concerns about the motive behind the incident.

He questioned whether Osotsi’s recent political positions could have played a role or if other underlying issues were involved.

The senator called on security agencies to move with urgency to investigate the matter thoroughly, identify all those involved, and ensure they are brought to justice.

He emphasized that swift accountability is key to restoring public confidence in institutions and preventing similar incidents in the future.

Thang’wa also highlighted the need to uphold constitutional rights, including freedom of movement and personal security, stressing that no leader or citizen should face violence or intimidation based on political views.

He urged leaders across the political divide to promote tolerance, respect, and adherence to the rule of law, noting that differences in opinion should never escalate into conflict.

The Kiambu senator concluded by wishing Senator Osotsi a quick recovery and expressing solidarity with his family and supporters during the difficult period.
