Jubilee Rejects IEBC Directive on Fresh Voter Registration, Calls It a “Rigging Scheme”

The Jubilee Party has strongly opposed a directive by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) requiring voters who were registered after 2012 to register afresh, terming the move a political scheme aimed at influencing the outcome of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Nkareta, Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta alleged that the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration is planning to manipulate the voters’ register after allegedly sensing defeat in the upcoming polls.

Kenta said the party supports the removal of deceased persons from the voters’ roll, but insisted that any changes to the register should not be used to disenfranchise eligible voters.

He further called on the electoral body to make its servers open for public scrutiny, questioning what happened to voters captured in the 2022 register and demanding transparency in the process.

Kenta also warned that the party could consider organising demonstrations if the directive is not reconsidered.

At the same time, he defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta, criticising government-allied politicians who have been attacking the former head of state, and warning that they risk being voted out.

He claimed that the Jubilee faction aligned to Kenyatta enjoys significant support, estimating it at over 80 per cent.

Kenta also urged opposition leaders to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections and back a single presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto.
