Sifuna Spells Doom for Wetang’ula and Bungoma Leaders, Calls for 2027 Political Shake-Up
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has warned that several leaders from Bungoma County, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, could be voted out in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a meeting hosted by United Opposition spokesman Mukhisa Kituyi at his home, where he engaged with Bukusu Council of Elders, Sifuna said there must be a major political reset in the county.
He claimed that leaders who failed to oppose the controversial Nzoia Sugar-related decisions, as well as those aligned to Ford Kenya leadership, should be rejected by voters in 2027.
Sifuna insisted that the proposed political overhaul should start from top leadership positions, including the Speaker of the National Assembly, followed by the Senator and Members of Parliament.
He further argued that any leader who supported the Finance Bill 2024 or remained silent on key county issues should be voted out in the next election.
The senator also used the platform to rally support for opposition unity, urging leaders and residents to back a single political direction ahead of 2027.
During the same engagement at Naitiri Market in Tongaren, residents reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with local leadership, with some calling for change in representation.
The meeting, attended by former Cabinet Minister Mukhisa Kituyi and Bukusu elders, was described as part of broader efforts by opposition leaders to strengthen their political influence in Western Kenya ahead of the next elections.
