In Eldoret, residents were left in shock after a disturbing incident happened in one of the rental houses involving a young woman and her mother-in-law. A 57-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by her daughter-in-law while the husband stood by without taking action.
According to reports, the elderly woman had visited her son and his wife last month but later became sick while staying with them.
It is also said that the daughter-in-law, who was responsible for paying rent and other household bills, was not happy with her staying in the house. She allegedly told her husband to send his mother away.
The situation reportedly became worse on Saturday when the daughter-in-law insisted that the mother-in-law must leave immediately.
She is said to have packed the elderly woman’s belongings and threw them outside the house. Tension quickly rose, and the confrontation turned physical.
Witnesses claim that during the incident, the woman went further and publicly humiliated the elderly mother-in-law by undressing her in front of neighbors.
The husband was present but did not intervene, allegedly out of fear after being threatened by his wife that he would also be chased away if he tried to help.
The incident has sparked anger among members of the public, with many calling for respect towards parents and in-laws regardless of financial situations in the home.
Police are expected to look into the matter as residents demand justice for the elderly woman.
