“I Miss My Child,” Shock as Kakamega Woman Reveals How She Killed Her 2-Year-Old Child Due to Family Pressure

Speaking while at Lang’ata Prison, a woman identified as Sharon from Kakamega County shared how pressure from her family pushed her into making a very painful and wrong decision that eventually cost her both her freedom and her child’s life.

In her statement, Sharon said she became pregnant while in Form Three. She explained that things later took a dark turn after about six months when her family discovered that the father of the child was a man they had a long-standing conflict with.

According to Sharon, the situation became worse when some family members allegedly began talking about revenge. She claimed they said that if the baby died, they would feel satisfied because the child’s father was their enemy.

Sharon further alleged that she was pressured and threatened by her family, who told her they would reject and chase her away from the community if she did not follow their instructions.

Overwhelmed by fear and pressure, Sharon said she gave her child poisoned milk, which later led to the child’s death while receiving treatment at the hospital. When the truth came out, she was arrested, taken to court, and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

However, Kenyans online and in the public have reacted differently to her story, with many expressing shock and sadness, while others questioned how family pressure could lead to such a tragic outcome.

Some have also called for deeper investigations into the claims she made about her relatives’ involvement.
