A village elder from Uasin Gishu County has shocked many residents after he was allegedly caught assaulting a goat in the village.
The strange incident has left people confused and talking across the area, as many could not believe that a respected elder could be involved in such behaviour.
According to reports from local residents, the man identified as Rapey Kiprimo Sudi was caught in the act by people who were passing nearby.
The residents quickly intervened and stopped him before informing other villagers, who gathered at the scene in shock and disbelief.
In his defence, the man claimed that he was going through a very difficult time. He said that his wife had left him three days earlier, and this had caused him deep emotional distress.
He explained that because of the situation, he ended up doing something he himself could not fully understand or control.
He further stated that he did not know exactly what he was doing at the time and asked for forgiveness from the community.
He also promised to compensate the owner of the goat by giving another animal in return as a form of apology and settlement.
After the incident, the man was taken to the local police station where he is currently being held. Police confirmed that he is expected to be taken to court on Thursday to face charges related to animal assault.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with many expressing shock and disappointment.
Some residents questioned how a village elder, who is expected to be a role model in the community, could end up in such a situation.
