Residents of Nairobi County were left in shock after a pastor reportedly laid heavy curses on his congregants during a church service.
According to people who attended the service, the pastor became very angry after accusing members of failing to meet his expectation of giving Ksh 20,000 as tithe. He claimed that many of them were refusing to sell their belongings in order to support the church.
In a statement he reportedly made, the pastor said that no one can succeed in life without the involvement and presence of a pastor.
He added that anyone who wants to live a better life must continue giving money to the church regularly. He further claimed that giving to the church is the same as giving to him, a statement that shocked many worshippers.
The situation escalated when the pastor began pronouncing curses on those who had not given the required amount. He said that such people would experience a life full of struggle.
He also made disturbing claims that they would give birth to children with disabilities. According to him, these curses were meant to act as a lesson to others who refuse to support the church financially.
Witnesses said that some congregants were seen kneeling down and begging for forgiveness. They reportedly promised to bring more money on Sunday in order to make peace with the pastor and avoid further conflict. The atmosphere in the church became tense and emotional.
On social media, many Kenyans reacted strongly to the incident. Some criticized the pastor’s actions, saying they were wrong and uncalled for, while others questioned the level of accountability among some religious leaders today.
Many people also called for proper investigation into the matter, saying such behavior should not be allowed in places of worship.
