Many Kenyans on TikTok were left shocked on Monday after a man from Kakamega publicly confessed that he is HIV positive and has been spreading the virus to young girls for the past seven years.
In the video that has been circulating online, the man openly admitted that he has not been taking ARVs during that period and claimed he knowingly infected several people.
In his statement, the man said that he was initially infected by a girlfriend he deeply trusted and loved. According to him, the discovery broke his heart and made him very angry. Because of the pain he felt, he said he made a decision to pass the virus to other people as a way of revenge.
The man, who appeared weak and unhealthy in the video, further narrated that he now feels like his days on earth may be coming to an end.
He admitted that for years he has not been visiting hospitals or taking antiretroviral drugs (ARVs), something that may have worsened his health condition.
What shocked many people even more was when he advised those he claimed to have infected to continue passing it to others so that they would not suffer alone. His remarks angered many viewers who watched the video online.
Following the confession, many Kenyans on social media strongly condemned the man’s actions. Some described him as evil and irresponsible, while others called on authorities to investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.
Health experts and members of the public have continued to remind people to take precautions, go for regular testing, and seek proper medical care.
HIV treatment through ARVs can help people live long and healthy lives while also preventing further transmission of the virus.
