During an emotional interview with Tales Extra, Jane Kamau from Kiambu County shared her distressing ordeal after traveling to Saudi Arabia in search of work.
She explained that she left Kenya full of hope after securing what she believed was a house help position through an agency, expecting the opportunity to improve her family’s situation back home.
However, Kamau said everything changed the moment she arrived in Saudi Arabia. Instead of the domestic duties she had been promised, she was informed that her actual role was something entirely unexpected and disturbing.
According to her, she was told she would be staying in areas designated for dogs, a revelation that left her shocked, confused, and frightened. She emphasized that such conditions were never disclosed to her during the recruitment process in Kenya.
Kamau further recounted that the environment at the house was terrifying. She claimed to have seen dangerous animals, including large snakes, within the compound, and was allegedly instructed to stay near them and even feed them.
She described the entire experience as inhumane and completely different from what she had agreed to before leaving Kenya.
Feeling trapped and betrayed, Kamau said she was left helpless by the very agency that facilitated her journey abroad.
