On Saturday, Kenyans were left in shock and sadness after an opposition politician lost his life in a serious road accident in Machakos County. The tragic incident has caused deep grief among residents and leaders in the region.
Reports indicate that the politician was travelling together with his wife in their vehicle as they headed to an important event.
During the journey, the driver reportedly lost control of the car, which then collided head-on with an oncoming truck on the busy road.
Sadly, both the politician and his wife died instantly at the scene. Rescue teams arrived shortly after the crash, but they were unable to save them. The bodies were later removed from the badly damaged vehicle by emergency responders.
The deceased has been identified as Peter Manteo, an MCA aspirant who was planning to run for the seat using the DCP party ticket. Many leaders and residents in Machakos County have expressed their sorrow, describing him as a hardworking and hopeful leader with a bright future in politics.
Following the accident, leaders from different parts of the country have extended their condolences to the family, friends, and supporters of the deceased.
Kenyans have also been encouraged to exercise caution while using roads, especially by avoiding overspeeding and following traffic regulations.
