Gachagua Rallies Ukambani Youth to Register as Voters, Backs Kalonzo

Rigathi Gachagua has stepped up political activities in the Ukambani region, calling on young people and parents to register as voters and support Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of upcoming elections.

Speaking during a rally in Makueni County, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader urged the youth to take voter registration seriously, noting that their participation will play a key role in determining the region’s political future.

“The youth must take responsibility and ensure they are registered voters. This is how we secure leadership that truly represents the people,” Gachagua said.

He also criticized some local leaders in Ukambani, accusing them of undermining Kalonzo’s leadership and working against the interests of the Wiper party. According to him, such leaders should be rejected by voters in future elections.

“Those who are not loyal to the party should not be elected. The people must vote them out and replace them with leaders who stand with Kalonzo,” he added.

Gachagua’s remarks come at a time when political alignments are beginning to take shape, with parties seeking to consolidate support in key regions.

His endorsement of Kalonzo signals a possible strategic alliance aimed at strengthening opposition influence.

Residents who attended the rally expressed mixed reactions. While some welcomed the call for unity and political direction, others urged leaders to focus more on development issues affecting the region.

As political activities intensify, voter registration and party loyalty are expected to play a major role in shaping Ukambani’s political landscape in the coming years.
