Ferdinand Waititu Spotted at Safari Rally Kenya After Release from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison

Former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu was seen attending the Safari Rally Kenya in Naivasha, marking one of his first public appearances since leaving Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.

Waititu’s release came after the High Court reviewed and eased his bail conditions, allowing him temporary freedom as legal proceedings continue.

The former governor is currently appealing a KSh588 million corruption case linked to his tenure in office. The case involves alleged procurement irregularities during his time as governor, with investigations led by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Spectators at the rally in Naivasha reported seeing Waititu interacting with fans and taking photos, suggesting he is keen to maintain a public presence despite the ongoing legal battle.

Legal experts have, however, noted that although he has been released on bail, Waititu remains subject to strict court conditions.

These reportedly include surrendering his passport and regularly reporting to court as the appeal process continues.

Political analysts say his appearance at the rally could be a calculated move aimed at reconnecting with supporters as speculation grows about his possible future political ambitions.

While some supporters welcomed him warmly during the event, critics argue that his public appearance may be premature given the seriousness of the corruption charges he faces.

Waititu has not publicly commented on his appearance at the rally or how it relates to his ongoing court proceedings.

Observers say the High Court’s bail review reflects the judiciary’s effort to balance an accused person’s legal rights with public interest in high-profile corruption cases.

Meanwhile, the Safari Rally Kenya continues to attract large crowds, combining motorsport excitement with notable public sightings such as Waititu’s appearance.

The development has reignited debate among Kenyans about accountability, justice, and the role of public figures facing corruption allegations.
