Nairobi – The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed circulating claims that President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, is facing arrest.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the DCI labeled a letter circulating on social media about the alleged arrest as fake. The letter falsely claimed that Kibet was a wanted criminal allegedly on the run.
“This letter is not authentic and did not originate from the Directorate,” the DCI stated, urging the public to ignore any such misinformation.
The fake claims coincide with another wave of false information circulating online that Farouk Kibet had been removed from his position at State House.
The alleged firing letter suggested that the President had sacked Kibet over gross misconduct. However, officials have confirmed that the letter is entirely fabricated and did not come from State House or President Ruto.
Kibet, a senior aide to the President, has recently been the subject of several social media rumors, highlighting the growing concern over fake news targeting government officials.
Authorities continue to warn the public against sharing unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic or damage reputations.
The DCI has called on social media users to verify information from credible sources before reacting, emphasizing that spreading false claims is punishable under Kenyan law.
Farouk Kibet remains in his official role at State House, continuing to serve as a trusted aide to President Ruto.
