Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo has sharply chastised Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, accusing him of impeding development by publicly opposing President William Ruto despite ODM's participation in the broad-based administration.
Governor Ottichilo declared Tuesday at a public event in Vihiga County that he will continue to cooperate with President Ruto "whether Osotsi likes it or not."
He stated that partnership with the national government is the only way counties can achieve development and better services for their citizens.
The governor stated that as Vihiga's elected leader, he deserved respect and that cooperating with the President is a responsibility rather than a choice.
He noted that counties that continue to resist the national government risk falling behind in development programs.
"For our people to get development, we must support the President," he stated. He noted that highways, hospitals, and other significant projects rely on national government funding.
His words come as Senator Osotsi continues to attack President Ruto for what he claims are unmet promises to Western Kenya.
Osotsi has maintained that, despite ODM joining the government under the broad-based system, Ruto has failed to deliver on many of his pledges. The senator has stated that entering the administration should not prevent leaders from speaking up when things aren't working.
He has urged the President to keep his promises and demonstrate tangible advantages to the people of Western Kenya.
However, Governor Ottichilo stated that frequent attacks on the President are damaging and undermine the region's chances of development.
He asked politicians to put aside political differences and instead work together for the good of the people. View_more...
