Drama in Nyanza as Family Chases Away Priest in Burial Ceremony

Drama unfolded on Tuesday in Nyanza after a Catholic priest was forced to walk away from a burial ceremony following a confrontation with the bereaved family, in an incident that has since sparked widespread public debate.

According to eyewitnesses, the priest had arrived at the homestead to preside over burial rites when tension suddenly erupted. Family members were seen confronting him moments before the ceremony could proceed, forcing him to leave the venue on foot.

A short video clip circulating on social media shows the priest calmly walking away as mourners look on, some shouting in the background.

The exact cause of the disagreement remains unclear. In the viral clip, no clear explanation is given for the family’s decision to chase away the cleric, leaving many Kenyans speculating about what may have triggered the dramatic scene.

Sources at the burial indicated that the disagreement arose just before prayers began, catching mourners and villagers by surprise.

Residents who spoke after the incident described the situation as unfortunate, noting that burial ceremonies in the region are traditionally moments of unity and respect, regardless of differences.

“It was shocking. We expected prayers and comfort, not drama,” said one mourner who requested anonymity. View_more...
