Residents of Kakamega County were left in shock on Wednesday after a pregnant woman was reportedly forcefully evicted from her rental house under painful circumstances.
The woman, identified as Pamela Okindo, aged 32, was allegedly thrown out after she refused an inappropriate demand from her landlord’s son.
According to reports, Pamela was living in a rental house owned by a local landlord. At the time of the incident, she had an unpaid rent balance of Ksh 12,000. Pamela reportedly failed to clear the rent because she could no longer go to work due to her pregnancy.
Matters were made worse after her husband allegedly abandoned her when she became pregnant, leaving her with no source of income.
It is reported that the landlord had earlier given Pamela two weeks’ notice to clear the rent arrears or vacate the house. However, before the two weeks ended, the landlord’s 19-year-old son allegedly approached Pamela while she was alone in the house.
Pamela revealed that the young man told her that if she agreed to have an unfair relationship with him, he would talk to his father and ensure she was not required to pay the rent debt. Shocked by the request, Pamela refused the offer.
She explained that she declined because she was pregnant, feared for her health and the unborn child, and also felt the boy was too young for such actions, noting that she was much older than him.
After she said no, the situation reportedly escalated. Pamela claimed that the young man later returned with two other men, who ordered her to leave the house immediately. Her household items were allegedly thrown outside, leaving her stranded and helpless. View_more...
