Tragic Death of Student in Machakos Sparks Outrage Over School Safety

A Grade 10 student at Ngelani Secondary School in Machakos County has died after being crushed by a school water truck in a tragic accident.

According to reports, the truck had ignition issues and could not start. School authorities allegedly asked a group of students to push the vehicle. During the attempt, the truck rolled over, fatally injuring one of the boys.

The deceased was the nephew of lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who expressed heartbreak and anger over the incident. He questioned why students were asked to handle heavy machinery, which they should never have been tasked with while at school.

Machakos police have launched an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the accident and whether the school followed safety protocols.

This incident has sparked national concern over student safety in schools. Parents and the wider public are calling for:

Stricter safety regulations in schools

Better supervision of students

Clear guidelines to prevent accidents involving heavy equipment

The community is awaiting the results of the investigation, demanding accountability and measures to ensure such tragedies do not happen again.
