Kisii MP Sylvanus Osoro Turns Viral Rally Mockery Into Family Humor

South Mugirango MP and National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro has taken a viral chant at a United Opposition rally in Kisii County in stride, responding with humor rather than anger.

During a crowded rally at Gusii Stadium on February 23, 2026, attendees chanted “Osoro N'Enyuma”, a phrase in Ekegusii mocking Osoro and implying he was “behind,” drawing attention online and sparking jokes.

The chant occurred as the United Opposition, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, toured Kisii and Nyamira counties to rally support and criticize UDA officials like Osoro and Governor Simba Arati.

Instead of taking offense, Osoro shared the incident humorously on Facebook, recounting how his 14- and 11-year-old sons overheard the chant from rally clips played by his driver.

He explained it jokingly, turning the situation into a family laugh and even teaching his wife to repeat the phrase in jest. His post concluded playfully:

“GOODNIGHT FOLKS!! Mlalishe ‘Osoro/Enyuma’ poa tonight.”

The episode demonstrates Osoro’s calm and humorous approach amid rising political tension in the Gusii region, where opposition figures like Matiang’i are gaining traction.

Despite the viral mockery, Osoro emphasized that most elected leaders in the area still support President William Ruto, and his response has become a lighthearted family story rather than a political setback.

This story highlights how political figures can defuse tension with humor, turning public mockery into relatable, personal moments.
