A young woman has shared an emotional story online after a relationship she believed would lead to marriage reportedly ended in heartbreak and financial loss.
In a tearful TikTok video, the woman identified as Mimi said she sold family land to help her boyfriend process a visa for travel abroad. The land had been left behind by her late mother for Mimi and her six siblings, making the decision both painful and significant.
Mimi explained that the land was sold for 6.5 million naira, which she estimated to be about KSh 600,000. According to her, the money was first deposited into her account before she transferred most of it to her boyfriend so he could handle visa and travel arrangements. She added that he later sent back only 150,000 naira to assist with food and basic household needs.
The two had reportedly been in a relationship for three years. Mimi said he had given her a promise ring and introduced her to his parents, which made her believe their relationship was serious and headed toward marriage.
However, she claimed that communication later changed. His calls reportedly became less frequent before he eventually stopped contacting her completely and blocked her on all platforms.
When she reached out to mutual friends, Mimi said she was told he had not travelled abroad as she had believed. Instead, he was allegedly seen with a former girlfriend he had previously said was no longer in his life.
