Former Deputy President and DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday attended a church service at PCEA Zimmerman in Roysambu Constituency, Nairobi, as he continued his political engagements ahead of a planned rally in Githurai later in the day.
Gachagua arrived at the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) congregation mid-morning, accompanied by several senior opposition leaders.
Their presence drew attention from congregants and local residents who had gathered for worship. The leaders joined faithful in prayers and hymns before the service proceeded under the guidance of church ministers.
In brief remarks after the service, Gachagua called for national unity, peaceful political engagement, and respect for institutions.
He urged leaders across the political spectrum to prioritize the needs of ordinary Kenyans, stressing that the country’s progress depends on accountable leadership and inclusive governance.
“We must put God first in everything we do and remember that leadership is a responsibility to serve the people,” he said.
The attendance of senior opposition figures signaled increased coordination within opposition ranks as political activities begin gaining momentum.
After the service, the leaders interacted with congregants and held a short consultative meeting within the church compound.
Security was heightened in Zimmerman and surrounding areas, with police deployed to manage traffic and ensure order ahead of the anticipated Githurai rally.
The Roysambu visit forms part of a broader political mobilisation drive across Nairobi and its environs as leaders position themselves within the evolving political landscape.
