The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has clarified that recent statements and activities by Oketch Salah were made in his personal capacity and do not represent the party.
In a statement signed by National Chairperson Gladys Wanga, EGH, the party emphasized that all official ODM programs must be approved and coordinated through the Party Secretariat, led by Dr. Oburu Odinga.
Members and supporters were warned against organizing events or making statements under the party banner without prior authorization.
The clarification comes after Salah publicly claimed to be a close confidant and “adopted son” of the late Raila Odinga.
He further alleged that Raila had given him political instructions, including endorsing President William Ruto for a second term in 2027 and warning of internal “rebels” within ODM.
Salah also claimed Raila wanted the party to remain in government rather than return to opposition.
ODM leaders and the Odinga family dismissed these claims as false and misleading, saying they misrepresent Raila Odinga’s legacy and risk confusing party supporters.
The party also expressed concern over Salah attending political events without authorization, sometimes displaying ODM symbols alongside imagery associated with President Ruto—actions considered violations of party protocols.
“Any activities, statements, or engagements undertaken by Mr. Oketch Salah are carried out strictly in his personal capacity and do not represent or bind the Orange Democratic Movement in any way,” the statement read.
ODM reiterated the importance of discipline, coordination, and adherence to party procedures as it works to achieve its political goals.
