Nkubu Deputy Principal Assaulted by Angry Parent in Shocking Club Confrontation

Drama unfolded in Nkubu town, Meru County, on Tuesday evening when Mr. Newton Gitari, the Deputy Principal of Nkubu High School, was allegedly assaulted by an enraged parent at a local club.

The incident has left residents and school officials deeply concerned about the safety of educators.

Reports indicate that the confrontation began after a Form Four student at Nkubu High School was suspended for breaking school rules. The school followed its standard procedure and tried to inform the student’s parent about the suspension.

However, fearing his father’s reaction, the boy avoided going home and instead stayed with a relative.  Witnesses say the student described his father’s anger as “like facing final exams without revision,” highlighting the fear he felt.

When the parent, who works for the area senator, discovered both the suspension and his child’s disappearance, he reportedly became furious. Determined to confront the deputy principal, he set out to locate Mr. Gitari.

The parent eventually tracked Mr. Gitari to a popular local club where he often spends time after school. The confrontation escalated quickly, and eyewitnesses claim the argument turned physical, leaving locals shocked.

Some described the scene as “live-action drama,” as the school’s Discipline Master appeared to be “disciplined” in public by a parent.

No serious injuries were immediately reported, but Mr. Gitari was visibly shaken. Friends and residents escorted him out of the club to ensure his safety.

Authorities confirmed that a police report has been filed, and investigations are ongoing to determine exactly what triggered the attack.

This incident has reignited debates about the protection of teachers in Kenya, emphasizing the need for clear protocols to safeguard educators from threats both inside and outside school environments.
