Kiunjuri Warns Government Missteps Are Boosting Gachagua’s Popularity in Mt Kenya

Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri has expressed concern that certain government actions are inadvertently generating political sympathy for Democracy for Citizens' Party leader Rigathi Gachagua in the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking on Inooro TV’s Kiririmbi show on Sunday, Kiunjuri described the disruption of events organized by Gachagua as “own goals” by the government, potentially undermining President William Ruto’s support in the region.

"Our people have ears, and they listen to what the government does. Incidents like those in Witima make us, in government, lose some ground," Kiunjuri said, referring to the disruption of Gachagua’s meetings.

However, the lawmaker remained optimistic, highlighting ongoing and upcoming development projects such as the revival of Mau Mau roads and the completion of the Kenol-Sagana road, which he believes will positively influence voter perception.

Kiunjuri emphasized that voters in Mt Kenya tend to judge politicians based on their ability to deliver tangible development rather than political rhetoric.
