Kenya’s First Daughter Charlene Ruto Meets Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, hosted Kenya’s First Daughter, Charlene Ruto, on Tuesday during her official visit to Kampala, Uganda, highlighting strengthened ties in youth-focused initiatives across East Africa.

Charlene, known for championing youth empowerment and leadership development, described the discussions as productive, focusing on cross-border collaboration for young leaders. 

She emphasized programs promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development through her Young People’s Network International (YPNI).

Connecting young innovators and entrepreneurs between Kenya and Uganda.

Promoting skills development and sustainable opportunities in sectors such as business, technology, and agriculture.

Encouraging regional cooperation to address youth unemployment.

General Muhoozi welcomed the initiative, stressing the value of empowering the region’s youthful population through strategic partnerships and knowledge sharing.

The visit also comes amid growing diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties between Kenya and Uganda. 

Observers note that engagement of young leaders fosters people-to-people connections, with long-term benefits for regional socio-economic development.
