Kalonzo Musyoka Witnesses Renaming of Kyuso Girls School to Honor Mama Pauline Kalonzo

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Party and former Vice President, on Saturday, February 14, presided over a historic ceremony in Kyuso, Kitui County, where Kyuso Girls School was officially renamed Mama Pauline Kalonzo Girls – Kyuso.

The renaming was done in recognition of his wife’s longstanding dedication to promoting girls’ education.

The event brought together local leaders, residents, teachers, and students in a celebration underscoring the transformative power of education within the community.

Addressing attendees, Kalonzo stated that the renaming was more than a personal tribute—it symbolized a shared commitment to ensuring every girl has access to quality education.

He emphasized that education should not be viewed as a privilege for a select few, but as a fundamental right for every Kenyan child, especially those from rural and underserved regions.

The ceremony was officiated by Makueni County Women Representative Rose Museo, with several leaders in attendance, including Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, Kitui Women Representative Irene Kasalu, and Mwingi North MP Paul Nzengu.

Their presence reflected a unified stance in advancing girl-child education and strengthening community development initiatives.

Kalonzo lauded Mama Pauline Kalonzo for her decades of advocacy and mentorship, noting that the school now stands as a lasting symbol of generational commitment to empowering young women.

He urged communities to work collectively in creating supportive environments where students can thrive and realize their full potential.

Students and Scouts added vibrancy to the celebrations through performances and demonstrations that showcased discipline, enthusiasm, and optimism for the future.

The renaming of the institution marks a significant milestone for Kyuso, reinforcing education as a key driver of empowerment, social equity, and the nurturing of future leaders.
