Ezekiel Machogu Alleges President Ruto Fired Him Over Influence in Gusii

Former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has revealed that his dismissal by President William Ruto was motivated by envy over his growing influence in Gusii land.

Speaking to residents during the United Opposition tour in Nyamira County, Machogu said:

"Alinifukuza ju ya wivu. Hakuna makosa nilifanya. Aliniopoga eti Naoendelea kushika ground sana."
(He fired me out of jealousy. I did nothing wrong. He claimed I was gaining too much ground.)

Machogu further explained that his proactive questioning of government initiatives, including the New Funding Model, angered the President, contributing to his exit from the cabinet:

"Ruto hataki kiongozi anamuuliza maswali. Nilimuuza kuhusu the New Funding Model akakasirika na mimi na hii pia ilichangia."
(Ruto does not want leaders to ask him questions. I challenged him on the New Funding Model, which angered him and contributed to my dismissal.)

Addressing the audience, Machogu declared his full support for the United Opposition, which includes Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka, emphasizing a clear political objective:
"Nia yetu ni kutuma huyu Ruto nyumbani. Hakuna ingine."

(Our aim is to send Ruto home. Nothing else.)
Machogu also reiterated his intention to vie for Kisii County Governor, stating that his political ambitions remain intact:
"Na bado niko kwa hicho kinyanganyiro."
(I am still in the race.)

The remarks come amid intensified opposition activities in Gusii, as the United Opposition seeks to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.
