Drama unfolded on Saturday evening in Bungoma County after a shocking incident involving a police officer and a local man, according to reports circulating on social media.
Sources claim the police officer, who was armed with an AK-47 rifle, stormed the man’s rented house after accusing him of having a secret relationship with his wife.
The officer reportedly said that his friends had informed him that the man was allegedly meeting his wife in guest houses within Bungoma town.
What began as a confrontation quickly turned violent.
Witnesses allege that the officer started beating the man inside the house. During the attack, the officer is said to have gouged the man’s eye using his fingers, leaving him seriously injured.
Moments later, the situation worsened when the officer reportedly shot the man four times, causing panic in the neighborhood.
Residents who heard gunshots rushed toward the scene but were forced to flee after the officer allegedly fired bullets into the air to scare them away.
The officer is then said to have escaped from the area before any immediate intervention could take place.
The injured man was later rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he is currently receiving treatment. By the time of filing this report, no arrest had been made and authorities had not released an official statement.
