Church leaders in Busia County have issued a strong warning to young people, especially those in Gen Z, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Sunday after the church service, leaders Edward Makani Isino, Wycliffe Nyarapi, and Rose Amasinde urged youths not to cause unrest when President William Ruto is announced as the winner.
In their statement, the church leaders said they are happy with President Ruto’s leadership and believe he deserves a second term. They also claimed that even prophets and bishops had predicted Ruto’s win.
They warned that any attempt to challenge the election results could bring serious consequences.
The leaders cautioned Gen Z that causing chaos like in 2024 could put their lives in danger. They said security officers might respond strongly, and people could be mistaken for criminals.
Instead, the youth were encouraged to accept the results peacefully and respect the law, rather than repeating the violent actions seen in previous years.
This warning comes at a time when political tension is rising ahead of the next elections. The church leaders emphasized that peace and unity should come first, and that violence or protests would only harm the young generation.
