Kampala, Uganda — Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, widely known as Bobi Wine, remains missing, and even his family has no confirmed information about his whereabouts.
However, Ugandan Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Ateenyi Barugahara, has made a surprising claim, suggesting that Bobi Wine might be in Nairobi, Kenya.
Speaking on a local radio programme, Balaam said, “Bobi Wine is hiding in Nairobi. But he is a capable leader, and I believe he can contribute to Uganda’s development if he joins President Museveni’s government and is deployed in an official capacity.”
The minister added that Bobi Wine’s creative ideas could help transform the country if he ceased opposing the current administration.
Bobi Wine has not commented on these claims, and it remains unclear whether he would consider cooperating with the government. Observers are closely watching the situation, especially amid concerns about potential abduction.
This comes in the wake of Dr. Kizza Besigye’s abduction from Kenya in November 2024, raising fears that Bobi Wine could face a similar fate if he is indeed in Nairobi.
Authorities and the public continue to monitor the unfolding situation as speculation about the opposition leader’s safety grows.
