“My Life is in Danger,” Nominated Senator Raises Alarm Over Her Safety

Nominated ODM Senator Hezena Lemaletian has raised fresh concerns over her personal safety, stating that her life is under threat and that she has already reported the matter to the relevant authorities.

In a social media post on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the youthful lawmaker expressed worry for her security, noting that she had taken formal steps to alert the authorities.

While making the disclosure, the senator did not identify who she believes poses the threat, nor did she provide further details about the nature of the danger.

My life is in danger. I have made all the necessary reports to the relevant authorities," she wrote.

This is not the first time Lemaletian has spoken out about threats to her safety. In 2025, she obtained restraining orders from a court against her estranged boyfriend, Musa Hussein Lenyumpa, following claims of persistent harassment.

The court orders prohibited Lenyumpa from contacting, harassing, threatening, or assaulting the senator in any way.

He was also barred from accessing her residence or workplace and from using her name, image, or likeness for personal or commercial purposes.

Additionally, he was restrained from publishing or sharing any information relating to her, pending further court directions.

At the time, Lemaletian said the alleged harassment had significantly affected her personal safety, privacy, and professional reputation.

She accused Lenyumpa of issuing death threats, engaging in physical violence, and spreading false claims about their relationship.

She further alleged that he had physically assaulted her, causing injury, and had used social media platforms and bloggers to tarnish her reputation.

According to the senator, these actions posed a serious risk to both her safety and her political career.
