On Saturday, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa dismissed claims made by one of the politicians aligned with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The claims suggested that the state had planned to attack Gachagua during the burial ceremony of the mother of Hon. Gakuya in Kiambu.
Ichung'wa said there was no evidence to support such serious allegations and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information.
The politician, who is a close ally of Gachagua, had earlier taken to social media to claim that the government had hired a group of goons to ambush Gachagua during the burial ceremony.
She condemned the alleged act, describing it as disrespectful and unacceptable.
“No one should interfere with a family’s mourning, especially during such a sensitive time. Planning any harm at a burial is completely wrong,” she said in her post.
In her statement, Gachagua’s ally also called on the government to respect the burial ceremony. She emphasized that the mother of Hon. Gakuya deserved to be laid to rest peacefully without any disruptions.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the family, and we ask that authorities allow them to mourn in peace. This is a moment for respect and not for political tension,” she added.
However, apart from Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, no other politician or government official has publicly commented on the allegations.
The issue continues to draw attention on social media, where supporters of Gachagua have expressed both concern and frustration over the claims. Many people are calling for calm and urging leaders to handle the matter responsibly.
