Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has weighed in on the trending story of a Meru woman whose private photos leaked online, sparking widespread debate across social media.
Wamae revealed that she watched the woman’s public apology video and noted how the incident has turned into national gossip — all because of a mere Sh20,000 transaction.
“Just Sh20,000! Can you imagine the chaos that such a small amount of money has caused?” Wamae remarked, questioning why Kenyans are treating the issue like a national crisis while ignoring the deeper problem at hand.
According to her, the real story is not about leaked photos or social media scandals — it’s about poverty, which continues to rob millions of Kenyans of their dignity and opportunities.
“Poverty is the real enemy. It shows no mercy and leaves people struggling to eat, pay rent, or educate their children,” she said.
Wamae criticized Kenyans for focusing on gossip instead of demanding solutions from the government. She urged citizens to stop being distracted by minor scandals and instead push for serious economic policies that can uplift ordinary people.
“We are busy entertaining ourselves with small drama while millions are suffering silently. When will we demand jobs, education, healthcare, and better living standards?” she asked.
The former presidential candidate further questioned the Kenya Kwanza administration’s promise to empower ‘Mama Mboga’, saying that it’s time for leaders to deliver on their pledges.
“Wasn’t this the government of Mama Mboga? Wasn’t it supposed to care about the poor? Let’s stop making excuses and focus on fixing poverty,” she said.
Wamae concluded by encouraging Kenyans to unite under calls such as #inatuhusu, #orderingthedisorder, and #OTD, which she said symbolize the fight for accountability and dignity.
“Small drama won’t build schools or hospitals. Only real action and policies will change Kenya,” she emphasized.
