Despite the escalation in hostilities, Rubio indicated that the U.S. has not closed the door on negotiations, suggesting that diplomacy could still play a role if Iran is willing to engage seriously. The comments come as both countries continue exchanging attacks, increasing fears of a wider regional conflict. 

The latest military escalation followed reports of American service members being killed in attacks linked to the conflict. In response, the United States launched additional strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, while Iran carried out retaliatory attacks against U.S. allies and regional targets. 

U.S. officials have maintained that their military actions are aimed at limiting Iran’s military capabilities and preventing threats against American forces and allies. At the same time, Washington has continued to signal that a diplomatic solution remains possible through negotiations addressing security concerns, including Iran’s nuclear activities and regional operations.
