A South African politician identified as William Makina has sparked widespread debate after claiming he was declared dead for 20 minutes before unexpectedly regaining consciousness while receiving treatment at a hospital in Johannesburg.
According to Makina, he had been admitted to the hospital following a short illness. He alleged that doctors confirmed he had died after medical equipment showed that his heart had stopped beating.
